In December, new vehicle titles issued increased by 2 percent compared to December 1979, and used vehicle titles transferred increased by 23 percent.
Williams noted that used vehicles titled for the first time in Virginia, either by newcomers to Virginia, or by Virginia residents and dealers who purchased vehicles out-of-state, increased slightly during 1980 by two-tenths of a percent, but increased by 27 percent in December compared to December 1979.
Titling fees are deposited in the state's Highway Maintenance and Construction Fund.
