Stokes Clothing Store continued their going-out-of-business sale with ladies dresses at $1.00, Men’s Insulated Underwear at $1.00, and Men’s Corduroy Pants at $3.75.

on February 2, 1961 was a garter snake killed by Mr. Rufus Williams of Chester Gap. He found the snake when he went to the spring for water. It measured 30 inches in length by one inch in diameter.
In other front-page news, John R. Woodward of Marshall announced his candidacy for the House of Delegates, representing Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. His candidacy was subject to the July Democratic primary.
William M. Haun and Thomas C. Haun were disgusted at not being able to get around in the snowy' and icy weather so they got out their old buggy, hitched up Old Dobbin, and got over the snow drifts to town.
In Slate Mill News, Friday evening callers of the Conner Jenkins were Mrs. Lucy Jenkins and children, Charles Henry, and Linda of the F.T. Valley. Monday visitors were Mrs. Roy Atkins and Beverly Sue of Sperryville.
Glenn Ford and Debbie Reynolds provided some comic relief to the severe weather in The Gazebo playing in Front Royal.
Richard’s Wine Cellars in Petersburg took out an ad for their Catawba Wine. The price was $1.00, but the size of the bottle was not mentioned.
