Since so many people die of heart disease each year, the American Heart Association has compiled a list of warning signs to watch for, according to Mrs. Q. Earl Yancey of Amissville, chairman of the Rappahannock County fund drive.
These symptoms are: uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest, lasting two minutes or more. Pain may spread to shoulders, neck, or arms.
Severe pain, dizziness, fainting, sweating, nausea or shortness of breath may also occur. Mrs. Yancey warns that these signs are not always present, and if there is any doubt, help should be found immediately.
What happens during the first two hours after the onset of the attack can mean the difference between life and death.
