breathed, and they looked as if they were staring at you. The museum had buttons that you were supposed to push to explain what the scenery was about. They also had signs you read to describe the scene. This is only the first day, but it has been fun. I think that anyone who hasn’t visited Williamsburg will enjoy it. (Christine Lillard)
Today, Thursday, January 22, we took a daytime tour of Williamsburg with guides. We learned all about 18th century life in Williamsburg. We toured old buildings and visited the old stores and craft shops. We learned about the way people dressed, and the way they cooked. We talked about the way things were made then.
Later on we visited the College of William and Mary. We all found out what it was like to be in college in the 18th century.
When we visited the House of Burgesses we saw the courtroom and the Council Chambers. Virginia’s government before the revolution was controlled by the royal governor.
We toured the Gunsmith shop where they make guns. We watched ladies making baskets and weaving cloth.
All in all, we learned a lot today and it was a lot of fun. (Elaine McCabe)
Thursday night after dinner we went to the Raleigh Tavern for a music program. After demonstrating various colonial instruments, we learned a colonial dance. After dancing for a half hour we left for our Lanthorn Tour.
The Lanthorn Tour was different from what I expected. We carried lanterns up the street and visited craft shops.
The first shop we went to was the Wigmaker. There we were shown how they used to make wigs. The shop was very small and had different
