Classes in Spanish and Calligraphy are scheduled to begin during the first week of March at Sursum Corda School in Washington. The Calligraphy class, for older children and adults, will last for six weeks. It is being offered Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. The instructor will be Edna Messick of Front Royal, a member of the Blue Ridge Calligraphy Guild. Her work has been displayed at the Constant Springs Gallery in Front Royal.
Separate Spanish classes for adults and children will be taught by Cathy Kiley. Beginning and intermediate, level instruction is offered, and private lessons are also available. Ms. Kiley speaks Spanish fluently; she lived in Spain for two years and studied at the University of Madrid. Her classes will emphasize practical, conversational language ability with some book work". The Spanish classes will be an eight-week series; specific times and dates to be announced.
Karate for children ages five and up has been taught at Sursum Corda for the past three years. The current session is scheduled on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 p.m. The instructor, Arthur Drago, has a black belt in karate, and
