On January 13, according to Griffin, Douglas called again, concerned that the clinic had contacted Rappahannock authorities and reported him in noncompliance with the court order. He came in a half hour later on that same day, Griffin said. She added that the police were notified of his arrival since a warrant had been issued for Douglas' arrest. The building was evacuated of staff and clients and the director, head of the clinic’s crisis control team, met with Douglas, she said.
Under cross examination by Douglas who served as his own attorney, Griffin said that a clinic staff member logs every call related to requests for services, including inquiries from individuals not accepted as clients. Asked if services are ever refused due to funding shortfalls, Griffin answered that the clinic turns down only those people who are able to get help elsewhere. She acknowledged that the
