Elephant Sale will give bargain hunters the opportunity to go home with treasures while readers can stock up on summer material at the Rappahannock County Library’s book sale. John Walker Jenkins' familiar “going, going, gone” will sound at a special auction to benefit Sursum Corda School and Day Care Center.
At noon, bells in the town churches and court house will signal the beginning of the Fourth of July Pageant on the court house lawn. This year, local residents in colonial costumes will be joined by the Rappahannock Country Dancers for the performance.
As part of the Independence Day celebration, a special Yorktown Bicentennial Film will be shown at intervals throughout the day at Mountain Magic Theater on Gay Street.
No one will go hungry with plenty of food available at stands and bake sales, including the annual pig roast at the monument grounds next door to the court house.
