People can have some money coming in and still be eligible for SSI. The first S20 a month generally does not count, apart from earnings. Income above $20 generally reduces the SSI check.

People who work while getting SSI can earn $65 in a month without reducing their payments. The check is reduced $1 for each $2 in earnings above $65.

An eligible person living in someone else’s home may have his or her check reduced.

For more information about SSI payments, get in touch with the* Culpeper social security office, located 522 Culpeper Shopping Center. The telephone number is (703) 825-3500.
