To the editor:
Recently 1 obtained a copy of H. R. 900, the “bill to provide that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception", introduced on Jan. 19, 1981 by Mr. Hyde and Mr. Mazzoli. This bill seeks to accomplish by legislation what a constitutional amendment outlawing abortion would do. It is one of the most radical pieces of legislation to be considered in many years. It would probably be judged unconstitutional in time, were it enacted, and Virginia’s senators and our representatives in Congress need to hear from persons opposing it right away.
Persons wishing to outlaw abortions are getting their opinions to our representatives and even thought these persons are in a minority within our society, their activities are vigorous and serious enough to carry great weight so long as others do not speak out. .1 here reprint the bill in to so that its nature and character cannot be mistaken:
