Members of the Rappahannock school board held a tight rein on spending at their June 16 meeting, the last of the fiscal year, allocating only $10,225 in surplus from the 1980-81 budget if two new cash registers can be purchased with cafeteria funds and a maximum of $15,225 if not.
That leaves the balance which will be returned to the county’s general fund as of midnight, June 30, at a minimum of $51,662 and a maximum of $56,662.
The board committed itself last year to returning any unspent money in the line item for gasoline which ended up amounting to $23,000. Other categories showing a positive balance at the end of the fiscal year were administration with $10,185, instructional costs with $11,631, transportation
