The planning commission s endorsement echoes the findings of the special ag district advisory committee which concluded that the Massie farm is one of the county’s most agriculturally signicant operations based on review of historical and current data as well as an analysis of soil suitability prepared by extension agent Rap Owings and timberland report from forester Lyt Wood.
In other action, the planners reviewed a draft of the town of Washington’s subdivision ordinance drawn up by John Capelle, executive director or the Rappahannock • Rapidan Planning District Commissioner in conjunction with the town council. By agreement, the county's planning commission will hold the required public hearing and make a recommendation to the council on adoption of the proposed subdivision ordinance.
