Rappahannock Ncs*>* Staff filer In Tuesday’s final work session before the superintendent proposes a 1982-83 budget next week, the Rappahannock school board indicated majority acceptance of the indexed salary scale sought by the County Education Association but without necessarily buying the 10.4 percent increase over this year’s starting salary requested by teachers as base for the scale. Chairman Beverly Massie asked Robert Estabrook, superintendent of schools, if he planned on computing the dollar impact of implementing an indexed scale figuring eight or nine percent increases over this year’s pay for beginning teachers. “I would hope we wouldn’t have to go too far down,” Estabrook replied, noting that he will do whatever computations requested by the board. He asked, however, that the members consider the intent of the teachers’ proposal and look at an affordable bottom line for instructional compensation that incorporates an index scale,
“This little of Rappahannock County is flying high right now,” countered Robert Euthun, adding that Rappahannock is currently paying more in starting salary than any bordering division with the exception of Fauquier after last year’s total 16.4 percent pay increase.

The Rappahannock Athletic Association will hold its LAST day of registration for the summer baseball program for 13-15 year olds this Saturday, March 20, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock elementary school. All participants who have not previously registered must sign up at this time.
