The Wakefield School alpine ski racing team has wrapped up its second season by winning two Virginias Cups. Eight championship cups, four for boys’ age groups and four for girls, were awarded to the best junior competitors in U. S. Ski Association races in Virginia and West Virginia. This is the first year the U. S. Ski Association has sanctioned races in these states. The Wakefield winners were Ruth Holliday, 16, of Middletown who took the girls' cup in the 16-18 year age group, and Frans Hansen, 15, of Middleburg who took the boys’ cup in the 14-15 age group.
Organized as part of the school's athletic program, the ski racing team was managed and coached by Fred Andreae, a Wakefield parent and architect located in Front Royal. The team’s six members were chosen from
