People who receive Social Security benefits because they are disabled have an important responsibility to report events that can affect their eligibility, according to Bruce Hundley Social Security manager in Culpeper.

The events that must be reported are:

—Change in mailing address. Also notify the post office.

— Improvement in condition, no matter how slight.

— Return to work no matter how low the earnings.

— Leaving the United States for 30 days or more.

— Application for or change in the amount of worker's compensation payments.

—Marriage of disabled adult child or disabled widow or widower.

—Adoption of child.

—Person becomes unable to manage his or her own funds.

— Death of a person receiving benefits.
