Deaf persons across the country are organizing a campaign aimed at persuading the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) to reconsider its decision to discontinue providing closed captions for the deaf on its programs.
The National Association of the Deaf and the National Caption Institute are seeking help from the hearing in their efforts to win a reversal of NBC’s action which was to take effect March IS. Both organizations suggest that protests from individuals and petitions signed by church groups, civic groups and other community organizations be mailed to the National Broadcasting Company, in care of The National Captioned Institute, 5203 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, Va. 22041.
