Before voting in favor of adding a director of special services, Eastham repeated that he wanted assurances every classroom in both schools would be visited and every teacher evaluated in the coming school year.

“In those general terms, you have a commitment from me that it will be done," Estabrook said. With additional staff at the central office, either he or Lysik will be able to visit each classroom, the superintendent said. “But I’m still looking to the building administration for followup.” he added.

“I’m concerned with the perception which may come from this discussion that no one is going into the classrooms," Lysik interjected, emphasizing that the building principals and assistant principals are currently visiting classes and i/sing existing procedures for teacher evaluation. (A new evaluation system is scheduled for adoption by June.)

At 1:05, the board went into executive session and returned to open meeting at 1:50. Mrs. Massie reported that arf update on potential litigation had been received. In addition, the board voted unanimously to appoint Glenn Davis as varsity baseball coach and Bill Child as boys track coach.

At the next school board meeting Tuesday. March 23, the superintendent will present his proposed budget for 1982-83 with the public to be given an opportunity for comment.
