Updike was the major force behind the organization of the Madison and Harrisonburg Slaughter Cattle Sales and the Culpeper and Harrisonburg Exotic Feeder Calf Sales. He also works with cattle sales at Marshall. Orange, Fredericksburg and Front Royal.
The winner of this year’s Beef Industry Service Award holds leadership positions in several organizations. He serves on the board of directors of the Eastern National Livestock Show and has been head of its livestock judging contest for several years.
