Brambles Open For Business
A new restaurant in the Town of Washington now is open for business. Brambles celebrated its first day of business July 4, before opening to the public daily July 9. ' !i”i

“We stress as many foods from scratch as possible,” Mr. Shipman said. “Not expensive foods—but nice foods.”
• Ag Bill Needs Public Input
The House Agriculture Subcommittee Studying Agricultural Commodity Commissions will hold a public hearing on Friday, July 20, beginning at noon. It will take place in House Room C of the General Assembly Building, Ninth and Broad Streets, Richmond.
Commodity commissions have been established for a number of agricultural products, such as eggs, tobacco, and apples. Producers of these products must pay an assessment, which is used for educational, research and promotional activities for that product.
House Bill 895, which was introduced in the 1984 Session, sought to establish a referendum procedure that could be used to determine if producers of a given commodity wish to continue these assessments. Final action on this legislation was postponed until 1985 so that the matter could receive additional study.
As a part of this study, the Subcommittee is seeking to determine whether Virginia law should be amended to require a more uniform and voluntary approach among the commissions.
