Konick asked Chris Munson, landscape architect for the project who appeared before the commission, if it was possible to build the school 150 feet from the rear line. He also asked Munson if the septic system could be moved. To both questions, Munson answered “yes.”

Topography, he said, made some areas more suitable on the property for a building site and location of a septic system.
A marshy area near the front of the lot allowed accumulation of water, Baumgardner added. Even the 150foot setback provision could be considered a reasonable hardship, he maintained.
Architect Munson called the location 75 feet from the rear property line “ideal.”
The site would be away from the marsh, which would require extensive work to drain. The location would not require a pump for the septic system; it would provide the most energy-efficient location for the new school.
Building chairman Morgan outlined the consequences of meeting the 150-foot setback provision. He said the school could not afford the changes, which would place it in a financial bind.
