Thin-A-Thon To Be Held
The Leukemia Society of America announced recently that a ThinA-Thon will be held in Washington, Sperryville and Rixeyville sponsored by the National Diet Institute. The Chairmen for the Thin-A-Thon will be Joyce Wharton in Washington, Betty Jenkins in Sperryville and Linda Bailey in Rixeyville. Proceeds from the Thin-A-Thon will benefit the Leukemia Society’s of America’s programs of research and patientaid.
The National Diet Institute classes in Washington are held Monday at 7:00 P.M. at the Washington Baptist Church. For more information, call Joyce Wharton at 967-8824. The classes in Sperryville are held Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Sperryville Fire Hall. For more information, call Betty Jenkins at 967-8938. Portrait Drawing And Painting Course
James Bennett will be demonstrating and explaining the techniques of portrait drawing and painting in a series of five evening classes at Lord Fairfax Community College. The classes will meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, July 18 and ending on Wednesday, August 15.
The course will be a combination of demonstrations and critiques, with the first half of each class session being a demonstration by the instructor and the second half an optional critique of work the students choose to bring to class. The registration fee for this class is $35.00.

Garden Club To Meet
The Rappahannock Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at the Historical Society building on Gay Street in Washington. All members are urged to attend.
