zoning ordinance could cost the Learning Center an additional $19,000 to $25,000 more, according to Angus MacDonald of MacDonald-Munson Architects in Orange, Va., who offered “rough” estimates.
Finances for the project already are stretched; the Learning Center two weeks ago initiated another fundraising drive.
Denial also will cost the Learning Center time. If the new facility is not in construction by year-end, the center could lose its state day-care-center license.

Will Meet
The annual conference of the Virginia Extension Homemakers Council will be held at Virginia Tech July 1719.
About 500 club members and other individuals are expected to attend the session, which will feature special guest speaker Reggie Smith, director of leadership development and human relations for the Virginia Education Association.
He will discuss leadership development at the conference’s opening session July 17 at 2 p.m.
The three-day program will be held at the University’s Donaldson Brown Center for Continuing Education.
Virginia Extension Homemakers Council is an organization of local community clubs across the state whose members are interested in learning the latest information to improve life in their communities. Currently there are more than 14,000 members.
At the annual business meeting July 19 at 8:30 a.m., the members will
choose a president-elect, vice-president and treasurer.
