The Agency also processed an additional $2,660,690 in farm ownership, operating and economic emergency loans. Of the 1,966 applications filed during this time period for various loans under the Farm Loan Program, 1,282 were processed totaling $40,812,690. There are approximately 14,800 loans outstanding with 6,000 farm borrowers which exceeds $356,322,060. FmHA has liquidated only four farm loan accounts since October 1,1968.
Under the Business and Industry Loan Program, FmHA is presently servicing a portfolio of $89,000,000. This program is geared to projects in rand areas that will generate employment thereby improving the overall economic conditions for the area.
The Community Loan Program makes loans and grants for water and waste disposal facilities in areas which do not include any city or town with a population in excess of 10,000 inhabitants. Loans are also made for essential community facilities (fire departments, rescue squads, dty halls, courthouses and other overall community development projects) in areas which do not indude any dty or town with a population in excess of 20,000 inhabitants.
