Town Boundaries Made Official
The Town of Washington now has official boundaries due to a recent survey conducted by James G. Butler, Jr. and Associates, P.C. of Warrenton.
Town Council member Newbill Miller said that the survey was done primarily to specify what the boundaries are in order to avert any possible zoning problems. The town’s boundaries were previously a matter of agreement between town and county officials.
The town boundaries were also needed by the Council in its effort to obtain a new town charter. The town’s charter has not been updated since 1894.
The survey’s cost was $1,500, and the town will pay half of that and the county will pay half. Round, concrete markers have been placed on the boundary lines at each road leading into town.
• Rabies Vaccination Clinic Saturday
Owners of dogs and cats can have their pets vaccinated against rabies this Saturday for a nominal fee, Jack Bruce, Rappahannock Animal Warden, announced November 27.
Bruce said a rabies vaccination clinic will be conducted at Rappahannock Recreation Center in Washington this Saturday, December 1, from 10 to 11 a.m. The three-year rabies vaccinations will be given by Dr. P. M. Graves of Madison. The cost per cat or dog: $3.50.
Bruce said there’s no current outbreak of rabies in the county. He added, however, that rabies test results of a raccoon he took to Luray last summer came back positive.
