An awards assembly was held at Rappahannock High School on Monday, November 26. The assembly was held to honor 70-80 students for their achievements in academics and athletics.
The high school holds an awards assembly three times a year. “It’s a way of letting the students know that they are doing a good job,” said Robert Chappell, principal at the high school.
Chappell recognized the following students for academic achievement. The 1964-86 Merit Chib is: Laura Adams, Kelly Bristol, Julie Burke, Wendy Burke, Natalie Butler, Angie Caesar, Jim Dennis, Cindy Dodson, Jim Freeman, Robyn Kent, Aney Massie, and Debbie Pullen.
Creativity contest winners were: for art which was a charcoal or pencil sketch; first place, Tim Cahandro; second, Jane Kidwell; and third, Becky Baldwin; for poetry; first {dace, Willie Arias; second, Deidre Coombs; and a tie for third between Melissa Frank and Bobby Ludwick; for a short story or short short story; first place, Deidre Coombs; second, Edward Welch; and third, Deidre Coombs.
