“Robbed Four Timet”
The help of neighbors was grand, but Prescott’s troubles had only begun. Her 80-mile commute to D.C. left her new home - at the time the last house on the road - wide open for burglaries. “I was robbed of everything in the place, even the vacuum cleaner,” she said.
Again, friends from where she worked and neighbors from where she lived pitched in, giving her used appliances when they could. Her insurance company also gave “market value” for stolen items.
A year and a half later, the same thing happened again. The second breaking, entering ar-| theft was “just as thorough,” die said. She added that, today, she keeps nothing of value in her home and is thankful that she’s not too materialistic. With the contractor’s crime, Prescott had been robbed three times.
