posed site. If trash removal is provided by private companies, will people be faced with losing the convenience of the dumpster sites, as well as paying monthly fees for trash disposal? Are a dog pound and animal disposal area planned for the landfill site, and will, such use comply with State law?
Other than its central location, what makes the proposed site on Route 621 so attractive? Is it its proximity to and drainage into the Covington River on one side, a large pond that flows into the Rush River on the other side, its being less than one mile from the County Elementary School on a third side, and its adjoining a heavily populated community on its remaining downstream side that makes it the best location in Rappahannock County for a landfill?
I believe that any of the questions raised above would be important enough to merit the careful consideration of all the citizens of Rappahannock County and to have their informed consent before any action is taken by the Board of Supervisors to condemn this site for a landfill. I would respectfully request the supervisors to carefully consider the impact of their proposed actions on Rappahannock County for the long term and to not act in haste or for the sake of expendiency. Since they acted wisely in resolving the recent Harris Hollow issue, I am hopefill that they will act in a similar manner in this far more environmentally threatening situation.
