Holiday Closings Announced
County government offices will be dosed December 24 and 25. Other dosings indude: Rappahannock National Bank and Farmer! and Merchants Bank of Flint HQl, both scheduled to does at noon on Christmas Eve and remain closed through Christmas Day; Family Guidance Services of Rappahannock (formerly the Mental Health Clink) will be dosed December 24 and 25. (In case of emergency, dink staff can be reached by calling 675-8329.) The Department of Social Services will dose at 4:30 on Friday, December 21 and remain doaed through Christmas; the Rappahannock County Library will be doaed December 22 through December 26 for Christmas.

• RHS Puls Concerns To Paper
The Rappahannock Humane Society (RHS) coriunitted their animalwelfare concerns to paper this week in a December 18 letter to the Board of Supervisors.
The letter, which was signed by RHS President Vinca Hannon, requests copies of the written records of all animals eothanatiaed in the county’s new gas chamber; that REUS be permitted to inspect the new chamber with a veterinarian and a state animal-control officer, that the Sheriffs Department become more involved in animal control mhd reposts of cruelty to animals until “the county provides the required duly sworn, trained and uniformed animal control officer,” that RHS and the supervisors try harder to wash together doedy and share all informa; tfcm that can be mutually benefit the cause of animal welfere.

Luke said preliminary drawings <rf the proposed focflity had been completed and copies of the plans were due to be mailed December 17 to plgjntifh wbo have initiated legal moves to bring the county into oomphance. Luke restated the county's commitment to comply with state codes, and said be recently had received clarification on these codes.

RHS, due for incorporation soon, will kick off ita membership drive during an organisational meeting on January 7, at 7:80 p.m. St the courthouse, RHS President Hannon reported. The pubtic is not only welcome, but encouraged to help in any way, ahape or form,” Hannon said.
Hannon said RHS is looking for volunteers to fill “line" offices in the new organization, and to help with committee work. He asked that anyone interested in working as an RHS volunteer give him a call prior to the January 7 meeting at 937-4061. Hannon said he hopes for a good pub1k turnout on that date.
