Whether or not the county can haul trash out of Rappahannock rather than establish a county landfill will be given more attention, according to Board members, who were briefed by several of the engineer candidates on this method of waste disposal.
“I’ve never set the torch down on trying to form trash out,” Supervisor Nelson Lane said December 17. Supervisor Lane said at least one of the engineers interviewed discussed a boiler system in Harrisonburg that converts garbage to energy. Supervisor Lane also expressed reservation about hauling trash so far sway.
