The Proposed Site • The presently proposed sice was not subjected to publicly accepted criteria before its selection. • The presently proposed site will directly impact the lives and property values of over 100 Rappahannock people. • Private and government geologists have stated that soils and the presence of a geologic fault pose a "severe” danger of water pollution in nearby wells and the Covington and Rush Rivers.
• The access roads and bridges are clearly inadequate for landfill traffic, thus requiring County funds for many improvements.
• Many sites have been identified with less impact on Rappahannock citizens, roads, water resources, and taxes. • A landfill at the proposed site would be an environmental, personal, and fiscal disaster to all of Rappahannock County.
