A bear that caused $800 to $800 damage last week an the property of a local beekeeper was tracked and shot on Turkey Mountain last Saturday by members of the Rapidan Hunt Club.
John Marocchi of Sperryville called the Rappahannock Newt last Thursday to report that eight of 20 beehives on his property had been Mt by the bear: five on Tuesday night and three more on Wednesday night.
Mr. Marocchi reported that he has had 'recurring problems with bears; he also has gone to great lengths to discourage them from making attempts on the beehives.
Mr. Marocchi had secured the beehive area on his property some time ago by surrounding it with 'three strands of barbed electric fence. The lowest wire was about If. inches off the ground.
This bear; however, had clawed its way under the lowest strand to devastate the beehives on the consecutive nights.
Mr. Marocchi had discussed the problem with Game Warden Jim Bankston, who Mr. Marocchi said
