Qjrivwter Welch, Sr., in the Marshall Cemetery. Welch, a native of Northumberland County, served in the lit. Continental Regiment of Artillery, a unit that pounded the British in the Battle of Monmouth. Because of Ms dose association with Fauquier men during the Revolution, Welch took up residence in the Marshall area Hollowing the war. His grave was marked by Milton Maddux of Mfheiij a dant.
William Hansbrough, with grave in the Baptist Cemetery, Stevemburg, was bom in Amherst County. He became one of the first to enlist in 1756 as a private in the 2nd Regiment, Virginia Volunteers. He served with his ikthar and brother, John. His descendant, William H. Hume of Hume, placed the SAR Marker at his grave.
