the counties of Virginia. We are aware that no one wants a landfill in their backyard, and it was with knowledge that our group started researching for alternate sites as well as alternate methods for a possible solution, however as a small group with very little knowledge about landfills and their problems. We as a new citizens’ group voicing our concern, had to cross the creditability gap as being responsible, mature, cooperative and above all not a vigilante group.
With a legal mentor our group has moved forth and has researched the problems of landfills. With this research more facts came to light as to the proper location, environmental impact, cost factors and alternate methods, the difficulty of finding sites which would create the least amount of problems to the citizens, the environment and water tables. From the executive level to the county level it is apparent that there are many problems concerning these landfills and/or the disposal methods which are applied today.
It was with this knowledge that our group started their research and gathered a large amount of material fro presentation to the Board of Supervisors. In a cooperative spirit, this material has been presented with guarded'respect to each individual supervisor for study, we hope with an open mind, as to the appropriate action to be taken.
