Settle named RCES

Betty Settle, a RCES first grade teacher, has been named acting . assistant principal at the school
The School Board made the appointment Tuesday night during a special meeting.
Assistant Superintendent Tom Campbell said Settle will be working part-time as assistant principal until a suitable replacement is found for her teaching position.
Tax Deadline
Thursday, December 5,1985 is the deadline for paying 1985 Rappahannock County Personal Property and Real Estate Taxes.
On December 6, a 10 percent penalty is assessed and on January 1,1986, a 10 percent interest charge is added. If you failed to receive a tax bill or have a question concerning it, please contact Mrs. Frances Foster at 703-675-3334.

Six indictments returned
The following six indictments were returned during Rappahannock Circuit Court’s Term Day on Nov. 13:
Lanny Reid Simpson — Indicted for operating a motor vehicle on a public highway after being declared an habitual offender. A capias wasissued.
John J. Messick — Indicted for writing a check in the amount of $468.52 payable to Blue Ridge Guns with insufficient funds. A capias wasissued.
Larry Edison Aylor — Indicted for operating a motor vehicle on a public highway after being declared an habitual offender. Continued to Dec. 5.
James Johnson — Indicted for operating a motor vehicle on a public highway after being declared an habitual offender. Continued to Doc 5
Raymond M. Miller, Jr. — Indicted for manufacturing marijuana not for own use and for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, give or distribute more than five pounds. A capias was issued.
Supplemental Security
Anyone who believes that they may be eligible for Supplemenval Security Income (SSI) Payments should apply at once, Bruce A. Hundley, Social Security Mananger in Culpeper, sgid recently.
SSI Payments can begin only with the date the application is filed. You should apply even if you do not have all the information needed on which the decision will be based. The people at the Social Security office will help you get whatever information is need, Hundley said.
SSI payments are for low income aged (65 or older), blind or disabled people with few resources. Generally the individauls home or automobile is not considered as a resource.
A parent who has a disabled or blind child which may be eligible for SSI payments should also contact the Culpeper Social Security office. If a child has no parents, a guardian or other responsible person can apply on behalf of the child.
