smokers attempted to give up cigarettes on Smokeout Day. A Gallup survey showed that 5.4 million succeeded for the full 24 hours, and one to five days later 3.1 million were still not smoking.
To help achieve the goal, the ACS suggests:

Lay in a supply of sugarless gum, carrot sticks, etc.
Drink lots of liquids, but stay off
