The Performing Arts Club of Culpeper County High School is presenting a play for people of all ages, Beauty and the Beast by Nicholas Stuart Gray, produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
Performances are 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 in the CCHS auditorium. Tickets are $2 per person. Advanced tickets may be purchased at Central Fidelity, 2nd National and Jefferson National Banks and at the door. Tickets may also be purchased - by calling (703)825-184p.
This performance is being promoted by the Drama Boosters of Culpeper. Beauty and the Beast is a fantasy dealing with the theme of the struggle between good and evil in all people. The play’s opening is S£t ip the „ $Q&s a scatty, brained, flustered wizard meets a young prince to whom he feels he must teach better manners. He sentences the prince to 20 years alone in a magic castle and then forgets him. 500 years later, the wizard, realizing his mistake, finds that his magic is useless in trying to undo the damage done to the prince. All characters learn lessons about themselves and about dealing with other people. The prince must learn that beauty is a precious thing in life and a thing which no one can dominate. It is a theme that is portrayed many time in art and is recreated in this production in a most unusual fashion.
Beauty and the Beast is a play that offers suspense, drama, and a blend of humor that will tickle audiences of all ages. It would be appreciated if parents would understand that infants too young to understand television, are too young to eiyoy this production.
