The Wakefield Student Government is modeled loosely on the federal government’s Bicameral Legislative System. Appointed prefects from each class compose the judicial branch of the government. Those prefects from grades eight through 12 constitute the court which is presided over by the Senior Prefect Britney Lee, of Flint Hill. The court meets frequently to review cases of serious violations of the Wakefield Honor Code and then recommends appropriate action to the Headmaster.

The prefect council, composed of all prefects both appointed and elected, provides the legislative body of the student government. The council, which is presided over by the newly-elected officers, discusses policy, reviews rules, and develops ideas to better the school..
