Verlie E. Baldwin

Mrs. Verlie Elizabeth Baldwin, 80, of Reva, wife of Joseph Jerry Baldwin, died on Tuesday, November 12,1985 at her residence.

Mrs. Baldwin was a native of Page County. She was a member of Thorton Gap Primitive Baptist Church near Sperryville.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cora Frances Harris of reva; two grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Baldwin of Compton; Daniel Baldwin of Luray; and Thomas Baldwin of Sperryville; and six sisters: Virgie Smeltzer of Front Royal, Nellie Clatterbuck of Harrisonburg, Delphia Baldwin of Reva, Bessie Baldwin of Culpeper

Mary Welch of Remington, and Nina Simmons of Luray.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 14, at the Baldwin residence near Reva, Elder Elmer Skeen officiated. Burial was in the family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Thorton Gap Primitive Baptist Church.

Guest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.

calls for entries

The Poetry Society of Virginia announces its annual poetry contest which offers prizes for work entered in 11 catagories.

A Jan. 31, 1986 deadline for entries has been set. Winners will be announced at an awards luncheon at the University of Virginia on March 15,1986.
