Lairy Tarr, a senior from Warrenton, was elected this week to the position of president of the student body of Wakefield School in Huntly. Tarr, the third student to hold the position of president, has been a student at the school since he was in the seventh grade.
In commenting on Tarr’s election, Headmaster William E. Lynn noted that Tarr had, “excelled in all areas of school life,” and that he was very proud that the students had elected Tarr to be their representative. Lynn continued to say that through the elections he hoped to engender more interest in the student government and the workings of democracy.
Tarr, in his inaugural address, stressed that the position required commitment and devotion and expressed his gratitude to the students for their confidence. He continued saying that he wanted to commend his “worthy opponents for the campaigns they presented and encourage them, as well as the rest of the student body, to put forth ideas on the student government at Wakefield.”
