William Wesley Talbott kas been named new editor of the Rappahannock Ndws. He replaces Paul McFarlane who served in the position since August.
Mr. Talbott is a 1974 graduate of the University of Virginia and has resided in Washington, Va. since May.
He has written feature articles for the Valley News, Lebanon, N.H., and has edited newspapers for ,private corporations. He also served as marketing director for a law publishing company.
“There are going to be exciting developments in the paper,” said Mr. Talbott, “I want to gradually shift the emphasis back to Rappahannock where it belongs.”
He urges people who are interested in the community to contribute to the Rappahannock News. “This paper really belongs to the people of Rappahannock and if we have more local involvement we’re going to have a better paper.”
Mr. Talbott has announced that Rappahannock News photographer Greg Turner will edit the new “Blue Ridge Echo” column. “Greg is a superb photographer and I think people will eiyoy this new section,” said Mr. Talbott.
The newspaper has also hired Stella Richards who will write news and feature articles about the county. Previously, Stella was an agricultural economist with the Foreign Agricultural Service in Washington, D.C., where her duties included overseeing all Grain Division publications.
