Gerald Handy, however, who brought in a four-pointer, says he has been wearing orange for years. “I don’t feel it keeps the deer away,” he remarked. He added that his son, Tim, is “usually the one that gets the first deer, but I got it this year.”
Bob Turman, who was dressed entirely in camouflage, said, “If I hear it (the shot), I figure they missed me.” On the other extreme was Dino Eppard, who didn’t go hunting on Monday. “I’m half-way afraid to go; I’m afraid I’ll get shot,” he observed.
Although some say turkeys can see color, Greg Wayland, who shot a 15-20 pound bird feels “a little orange is better than nothing.” He will probably have his turkey for Thanksgiving.
