Lions to
conduct
tests
Lions District 24-A Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit will visit Rappahannock County on Tuesday, March 11, Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13, 1986. Rappahannock Lions Club will sponsor this project as one of its community service activities. Screening will be conducted by Lions Club members.
Adults are invited and encouraged to come for the free testing on the following schedule: Tuesday, March 11, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wakefield School in Huntly and Wednesday, March 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School. Glaucoma and diabetes tests will be available to adults in addition to the regular sight and hearing tests. Those adults desiring diabetes test must fast for at least two hours before the test. Nothing by mouth other than water. No .adults will be tested on Thursday.
Students will be scheduled through each school’s principal. Wakefield School students will be scheduled on Tuesday, March 11 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Rappahannock County High School students will be scheduled on Wednesday, March 12 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and Rappahannock County Elementary School students will be scheduled on Thursday, March 13 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
A “Medical History Survey” form will be sent home from school by each student involved in the screening, prior to date of the testing in order that a parent or guardian may sign and return the form to the school before this sight and hearing screening is performed. It is important that the form be signed and returned to the school immediately. -
Students who wear glasses are urged to have them available on the van for the vision test.
The Screening Unit is one of the many projects supported by the Rappahannock Lions Club. The first commitment of Lions is to benefit the local community. This project involving several hundred Rappahannock County school children, and adults, is one example of helping the community, thanks to the generosity of those whose support the Lions Club in their ftind-raising activities.
