A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Pacific Theatre, rising to the rank of sergeant.
Surviving are his wife, Dorotha Cecil Polhamus; three sons, Emory Rhodes Rodgers of Arlington, Carlin Allen Rodgers of Amissville and Lewis Otterbein Rodgers of Easton, Md.; a daughter, Kay Rodgers Johnson of Whitacre, and six grandchildren.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Ethel Knight of McGaheysville, Margaret Zombro of Boyce and Helen Baumgardner of Front Royal, and two brothers, Henry D. Rodgers of Winchester and George S. Rodgers of Hampton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Winchester Rescue Squad or the Fraternal Order of Police.
