Under the proposed budget a beginning teacher who now earns $13,618 would earn $14,912. A teacher who has one year with the department and now grosses $14,027 would earn, under the proposed budget, $15,359.
A teacher with five years of service presently earns $15,797; the budget would raise that amount to $17,298 yearly.
A ten year veteran now earning $17,840 would earn $19,537. Teachers who have from 20 to 24 years with the department currently earn $20,427; that amount would be increased to $22,368. A teacher having 25 years with the department, now earning $20,972, would realize an increase amounting to $22,964 yearly.
Mr. Estabrook’s proposed budget seeks a flat $2,537 increase for permanent administrators. The superintendents salary, currently $38,361 would rise to $40,898. The elementary school principal who now earns $28,624 would gross $31,161 under the proposed budget. The high school principal’s salary would increase from the current $31,081 to $33,618.
Other budget hightlights:
• Two school buses are needed again this year due to excessive age and mileage of the fleet. Last year’s allotment was $46,434; this year’s budget asks for $47,734.
