The board decided to review the application before making a final decision.

Rappahannock County Sheriff John Henry Woodward asked the board for two new vehicles to replace cars with excessive age and mileage. The board approved two new Chevrolet Caprices costing $10,872 each for the sheriffs department. The old vehicles will be given to the Rappahannock County School Board which maintains police vehicles in lieu of a direct payment.

Wayne Cilimberg asked for a “realistic extension” for the Sperryville Water and Sewer Authority block grant until July 1987. This will give the authority enough time to complete final testing of the project which will be operational this summer.

Bob Dennis of the Water and Sewer Authority told the board that a new problem had arisen with the refusal of the Culpeper plan to accept sludge that will be generated from the Sperryville facility.

There was opposition by some members of the board concerning the enclosure of the stairwell leading into the courtroom. They voted not to appropriate money for the enclosure.
