Craft show at Antique Market

The fourth annual craft show sponsored by the SperryVille Antique Market will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

In addition to antiques, country farm tables and collectibles, more than 30 crafters and dealers will display their wares. Included will be handmade quilts, dried flowers, wreaths, country items of every description, hand smocked clothes for children, wall hangings, clocks, pillows, woodcarvings, Christmas items, hand dipped candles and hand painted eggs, as well as the work of many fine artists. Dan Lewis from Middle Street Gallery will present a selection of his paintings including watercolors and dry brush. There will be craft demonstrations including a weaver throughout the weekend.

Homemade delights and lunch will be available on the premises from Mazie’s Snack Bar. There is no admission charge and plenty of free parking is available.

The Great Gatsby,starring Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Bruce Dem, Karen Black and Lois Chiles, will be playing at the Gay Street Theater October 4 and 5 at 7:30 each evening.

A look at the wealthy, sophisticated society of the Jazz Age, this exquisite screen version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby - desperately in love with rich, spoiled and married Daisy Buchanan. The movie is rated PG.

SBC meeting Oct. 7

The Sperryville Business Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. October 7 at Nona Gioia’s Restaurant in Sperryville.

Antique and craft festival

An antique and craft festival sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Amissville fire hall. Food will be served.

Livestock Club bake sale

The Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club invites the public to attend the festival October 4 in Sperryville. The club will be selling lamb, hot dogs and cider. Proceeds will benefit the Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club Scholarship Fund.
