The Lake Motel in Washington
has three massaging mattresses which are currently being introduced in many motels throughout the east. Each mattress is activated by a small motor which causes a gentle vibration in its coiled springs. The manufacturer states the action is as close as man has been able to come mechanically to the actual finger rhythm of the professional masseus. The mattresses are coin operated with a fifteen minute massage for twenty-five cents. At the request and through the interest of local residents, Mr. John Walker, operator of the Lake Motel, has arranged hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for anyone wishing to try out this physiotherapeutic answer to tranquilizers.
Forest Grove PTA will hold its annual Harvest Dinner November 3rd at the Amissville fire hall. The usual delicious dinner will be served. Forest Grove School PTA will meet Monday night, October 9th at the school. All patrons are requested to attend.
20 YEARS AGO RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS From the September 29, 1966 edition
Trooper W. A. Buntin of
Rappahannock County is among the Virginia State Police personnel cited this week for twenty years of service with the department. He was one of 39 members of the force who were honored with a banquet yesterday, September 28 at headquarters in Richmond. Trooper Buntin, a native of Halifax County, completed his schooling and training for the department in July 1946 and was assigned to Rappahannock County. He has remained here since that time, making his home at Washington, Va. with his wife and their daughter, Nancy.
Bill Tapp of Amissville, who has been in foreign service with the State Department, is spending some time with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John A. Tapp. He arrived in Amissville Thursday from the American Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq after spending two years in many European and
