Bloodmobile
in Marshall
With the demand for blood still urgent, the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Marshall Baptist Church, on Route 17 south of town on Monday, October 6 between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Although the public’s response to recent urgent appeals to donate blood has been encouraging, Mrs. Hazel Williams, blood team captain, says that still more new donors are needed if the Marshall blood drive is to attain its goal of 45 units (pints).
Last week’s Bloodmobile in Warrenton collected 104 units, according to George Borjes, Fauquier Chapter blood services chairman, a satisfying 14 units above the goal of 90. But with blood supplies still low throughout the Washington region, of which the Fauquier Chapter is a part, every blood drive will have to meet or exceed its target, Borjes pointed out. Greatest demand is for Type 0 blood, the type most people have.
A blood donor can be anyone past the age of 17 who has not donated for two months. That means that those who donated at the Marshall blood drive in May are once again eligible to donate.
