Shenandoah sets
theatre season
The Broadway show “Plain and Fancy” will open the 1986-87 theatre season at Shenandoah College and Conservatory in Winchester.
In addition to “Plain and Fancy,” the season will feature the opera “The Three-penny Opera” by Kurt Weill. The musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress” will be presented in February followed' by the play “Six Characters in Search of an Author.”
“Plain and Fancy” will open for a weekend run Thursday, October 9. The story of contrasts of customs, the comedy' deals with two New Yorkers who find themselves in Amish country. The musical score features the song “Young and Foolish.”
“The Three-penny Opera,” opening for a three-day run November 21, is the second adaptation of John Gay’s “The Beggar’s Opera.” The score includes the famous musical number “The Ballad of Mack the Knife.”
Based on the Hans Christian Andersen classic, “The Princess and the Pea,” the musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress” will open February 12.
