The United States Endurance Team has returned victorious from Rome where they won a silver medal, finishing behind Great Britain’s team in the world championship 100-mile ride held Sept. 20. Dr. Jeannie Waldron of Amissville finished second and her horse was awarded best conditioned after the grueling ride — an incredible feat.
Dr. Waldron, a part owner of the Marshall Veterinary Clinic, returned home Sept. 28 with her halfArabian mare, Brombe. Brombe, trained by Dr. Waldron herself, has won best conditioned status in three out of four 100-mile competitive rides.
“That’s the most important thing,” Dr. Waldron said. “If I had to take first place or best conditioned I would take best conditioned.”
The ride was a disappointment for Dr. Waldron’s sister, Lynn Wittle, however. Mrs. Wittle’s horse Wickery, also a half-Arabian mare, was prevented from traveling
