Anne’s-Belfield in a closely fought match at Wakefield Saturday afternoon. At halftime Wakefield was ahead by a score of 1-0, with a goal by Ed McGushin. Another well executed goal by Ed Favre brought the score to 2-0 before St. Anne scored in the last nine minutes of the game. With the pressure on, Wakefield goalie Jeff Reid kept his cool and in several dramatic saves insured a Wakefield victory.
JV rolls, 7-1
Fresh from their victory over RMA, Wakefield’s JV soccer team made short work of Highland School’s team in the first home match of the season. All of the nonstarters got into the game as the Owls racked up an impressive seven goals against the visiting Warrenton team. The Highland team played hard, didn’t give up despite the odds and scored a goal before the game’s end.
Next the JV Owls will take on Linton Hall, which Wakefield has never defeated in a long history of competition.
